Kai Yong Yeoh Building, Brighton College

Client: McLaren Construction

Services: Design development & delivery

Founded in 1845, Brighton College is one of Britain’s leading Independent Schools and is a highly respected private co-educational day and boarding school.

As part their £55 million programme of expansion PTAL were instructed by McLaren Construction to act as Lead Consultant in the delivery of Construction Information for the new £10m Hopkins Architects designed Humanities Building.

The building provides state-of the-art classrooms for Mathematics, History, Politics, Economics and Business Studies, plus a new ‘Experimental Classroom’ providing the College with a new flexible multi-purpose teaching space.

As Lead Consultant, in conjunction with McLaren Construction, we coordinated a large and experienced design team to ensure that the project was delivered on time and to budget. We also collaborated with Hopkins Architects to ensure that the principles of their architectural design intent were upheld.

Stage 4 development of the design commenced in November 2015, with construction starting in the Spring of 2016. The completed building was handed over to the College for the start of the Michaelmas Term in September 2017.

The project was fully delivered using BIM enabled software, allowing for a rapid and efficient design process.
