Award success for Woodmansterne Secondary School & Sixth Form

20/09/2019

We received a Highly Commended award for Excellence in Architectural Technology at the CIAT AT Awards 2019 for our Woodmansterne School project last week. This the third accolade the building has received this year!

The award was a pleasant surprise and the judges’ comments summed up the team’s objective to successfully deliver a government funded school building: “Woodmansterne is a well thought out holistic design and scheme which demonstrates Architectural Technology at its highest level. PTAL maintained the functionality of the different spaces and the acoustic comfort was suitably considered. The School has a high-performance building envelope with exceptional functional and robust design and detailing. The lengthened design process to shorten construction worked to an advantage, ensuring admirable layouts and an observed flow of the building.”

Associate Director Carolyn Jamieson, who was joined at the ceremony by Executive Head-teacher Samantha Palin, said “The success of this school building lies in the strong relationships that have been formed between the team and the importance that has been placed on ongoing engagement. The whole design team worked collaboratively and with the shared objective of achieving the best possible results for the school, pupils and the wider community. This award is testament to the attention to detail that we employ in all our work so it’s wonderful to receive this recognition.”
